Kasim Allah: Bio

Kasim Allah is a multidimensional literary, visual and performing artist whose vocals can be currently heard nationally in Sheetz and Big Lots commercial rotations. Additionally, he narrated VH1’s Playa’s Guide to Scarface was a featured poet on BET’s Lyric Café, was signed to EMI with his group The Inviseez who co-wrote "Emphatically No" for Salt n Pepa’s Very Neccesary album, was featured on Redhead Kingpin’s Who Am I?, Lord Jamar’s 5% Album and released the single "Haggen Daj" on Henchmen Records, now Czar Entertainment.

As a free agent, he has become one of the most slam-winning and captivating performance artists in New York City. He was also a member of the 2003-2004 Hottest Poets International Slam Team. Kasim’s words have impacted students and audiences alike in venues as diverse as The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture to Princeton University to The Drum Culture Center in Birmingham, England. Additionally, Kasim has also authored and published his own book and has been published as well. Such works include LOVE, LIFE & LIBERATION (selected poems) and Signifyin’ Harlem Literary Journal (volumes I and II), which has been published by Yale University press .

 

This man has also written and released several cd’s including JUST WORDS (2001), THE WET SPOT (2001), GHETTO MESSIAH (2002), and HOOD POLITICS (2005). In addition to writing & co-producing SUBWAY BOMBER (2007), he has successfully embarked on his re-entry into the music industry with his new album, LIVING MATHEMATICS (2013) which was released on his own label, Sandy’s House Entertainment featuring Brand Nubian. In 2015, along with Dj/Producer Sha7, he released the EP: STREET POETIC. The new album, RETURN OF THE GOD EMCEE is slated for a July 2017 release.

 

As a poetry instructor, Kasim has taught for the Community House at Princeton University, the Harlem YMCA, 8 Plus, a high school program for teenagers with children, the LEAP afterschool program at M.S. 22 in the Bronx; was the poetry teacher and

Dean at U.A.A.H.C.; an all - Black and Latino boys high school located in the Taft Educational Campus, Nelson Avenue Family Residence, Jackson Avenue Family Residence, Willow Avenue Family Residence, Bridges Youth Correctional Facility, Shepard House (all - girls correctional facility) and a Community Action Center in London, England.
